For him to be much more than an extra in the scene
Not even off, off-Broadway wanted his regards
For although an excellent conversationalist
He lacked the presence of personality
That made the delivery of the line memorable
He tried so hard to care but ended up existentialist
Which damned him to the ranks of the also-rans
