A Siberian Sunday The First Day Of March

March showed up last night with a big bag of freezing. The skies were clear and the sun was out yesterday morning, but the temperature never rose above 21 F. Made for some interesting snowmelt/snowfreeze events. The snow that had accumulated on the pergola above the back deck sagged as the snow warmed it a bit, but then froze in place as clouds moved in and the temperature quickly dipped. Made for a garland of snow.

In the front of the house, which has a southern exposure, enough snow melted to get a small trickle of water flowing directly over the garage. However, as the water left the roof and fell under the much colder area beneath the eaves, it froze, and a very long icicle-of-death was formed over one of the garage doors.

That travel brochure for the Turks and Caicos Islands is starting to look good. Real good.
