Happy Mothers Day, 2017

My Mom throwing her first snowball in 45 years, Kaibab National Forest, Arizona,February 1995

Haven't mentioned much about my Mom lately. It has been about three months since her Doctor told us she might have anywhere from 5 days to 6 months to live, and she signed off on a DNR.

The possibility that this may be the last Mother's Day I actually get to tell my Mom Happy Mother's Day has been lurking in the back of my mind all day. It's just been there, like a dark cloud, keeping me keenly aware that I should be doing everything I can to let my Mom know just how much I truly love her and am grateful she was my Mom.

I hope everyone who still has their Mother with them takes a few moments today to thank her for everything she's done for them over the years.*

*Yes, I recognize that there are bad mothers out there, moms who have emotionally or even physically scarred their children. I do hope the children of those types of mothers have been able to heal the damage inflicted upon them and found a way to at least forgive their mothers if it was at all possible.

  1. I'm so sorry your mother isn't well. Cherish this time to be able to say the things to her that you have always wanted to say to her but assumed you would have time. I'm sure all that she wants to hear is "I love you".
