Miranda and Jay sat next to each other in the dimly lit bar
Telling each other stories of who they used to be
Yeah, just a couple of burnt-out superstars
Lying about the lives of spectacular excess
They used to lead
"See this scar?" Miranda said
Pointing to a wicked little "S" of hard flesh
That trailed down her left arm
"I got that from my second husband"
Tracing her finger over it as she spoke
Jay watched her, nodding his head to let her know
He knew she still could feel the pain
"I had a girlfriend once who could handle a knife"
And he lifted his shirt to show the results
A lopsided smile healed into his right side
Pointing to a wicked little "S" of hard flesh
That trailed down her left arm
"I got that from my second husband"
Tracing her finger over it as she spoke
Jay watched her, nodding his head to let her know
He knew she still could feel the pain
"I had a girlfriend once who could handle a knife"
And he lifted his shirt to show the results
A lopsided smile healed into his right side
