Ineffectual Analyses Of Self-Righteous Criticisms

                                                                 The line-up

There are those who make their living spewing venom
Or self-righteously condemning those who do not appreciate
The abstract

Those pompous fools with their opinions
About what is acceptable and what is not
Carefully pondering the precise verbiage
With which to praise or condemn
As if any of what they utter will matter
                                                Fifty years from now
Go ahead, try to find the words written by a critic
That kept anyone away from Casablanca
Or that deterred the public
From handing over hard-earned nickels
To watch Shirley Temple tap dance

Entertainment
Is what is wanted
If we wanted to think
We'd go to college
So stuff your overblown analyses
And situational awareness
We don't need to know
Why Mr. Deeds was a Doppelganger for Uncle Joe
Or how the sled
Was the perfect allegory
For the unrelenting dread
That comes from fears imaginary

Just give us snappy dialogue
Maybe a witty monologue
And keep your philosophies hidden
Between the lines
