Watercolor Of An Irish Woman For St. Patrick's Day

Chris Bakunas,  Irish woman, watercolor, 10" X 20"

It's been awhile since I did anything but quick sketches in watercolor. Years ago, watercolor was my preferred medium, primarily because it was cheap, and I was poor.

Now I much prefer to work in oils, as they are far more manageable and forgiving a medium, unlike watercolor.

Today as I was cleaning up in the spare room I found a nice piece of scrap watercolor paper and decided that I would sit down and attempt a watercolor of an Irish woman for St Patrick's day.

The influence of Dravidian temple statuary on this painting cannot be underestimated.

It was fun, but man o' man am I rusty.
