The Ol' Transfer The Nails Into A Sturdier Container Trick

    For reasons beyond the keen of my intellect, manufacturers have a tendency to put nails - those straight metal pin-like doohickeys one uses to secure materials together (usually in construction scenarios), in lightweight cardboard boxes that fall apart easily. 

   For example, this box of nails I purchased to secure the roofing shingles onto the roof of a shed I built:


      This box is a disaster waiting to happen.


   Especially the bottom, which one would hope would be it's strongest, most durable side.
 

   It is pretty much the most vulnerable side of the box. 

   Here is what you do when you buy a box of nails. Get yourself one of those containers used to store leftover food and proceed as illustrated:


   Trust me, you will a happier DIYer for it.
