This is not a depiction or description of a celebration in a clubhouse by a team of deliriously happy professional baseball players who wear uniforms that sport the name "Padres", but feel free to close your eyes and imagine that it is. In what is known here in the United Sates as the National League Divisional Series of Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball team that operates out of San Diego, California, known most commonly as the Padres but also referred to as the Friars and by some as the Fathers, defeated the Major League Baseball team that operates out of Los Angeles, California, known most commonly as the Dodgers but also referred to as Big Blue and by some as the Evil Empire of the West.
Three wins for the Padres, One win for the Dodgers, wrapping up a best-of-five series early.
Watching the last swing taken by the batsman for the Dodgers at a pitch thrown by the hurler for the Padres was a grand and glorious moment. The swing was impotent, as useless as the slowest hand on earth trying to swat the fastest fly on earth.
Did I mention it was a grand and glorious moment?
One to be cherished and lorded over my friends who favor the Dodgers Major League Baseball organization forever and ever.
