   He then proceeded to list the various languages he was fluent in (German, French, Dutch, Spanish, and Urdu) and asked her if she would prefer conversing in any of those.

   She replied that her preference would be the private language she shared with her cats but as there was little chance he would be able to pick that up without at least ten years of study, English would be fine.

   "I like your style," he said. "You're funny and you're sarcastic, yet you are also quite pleasant. Are you from around here?" 

   "I like your persistence,: she said. "You're persistent and you're oblivious to rejection, yet you are also quite pleasant. Are you from anywhere that has granted women the right to vote?"

   They both laughed at that one.
