A Very Brief Yet Somewhat Complete History Of Limon, Colorado, In A Few Paintings

Drove out to Limon, Colorado with JER today to take a peak at the Limon Heritage Museum and Railroad Park. This is a small museum in a small town, but it was well worth the trip.

One of the more interesting displays was a history of the area where Limon is located - it's a lot more comprehensive than I expected a small town heritage museum to present, and based on geologic surveys and data stretching back millions of years.

The following six paintings on display at the museum are as fine of an example of a short but sweet presentation as there could possibly be.

The area now known as Limon, Colorado approximately 100 million years ago

The area now known as Limon, Colorado approximately 70 million years ago

The area now known as Limon, Colorado approximately 65 million years ago

The area now known as Limon, Colorado approximately 34 million years ago

The area now known as Limon, Colorado approximately 16,000 years ago

The area now known as Limon, Colorado as it looks these days

NOTES:

1) Some of these paintings are signed by the artist(s) and I would love to give  attribution, but the signatures were too small to read.

2) I had to modify the painting of the area in the current day using a GIMP program because it was partially obscured by a model of an oil derrick and the shadows said model cast upon it. I know it looks hurried and amateurish but that is due to me being hurried and amateurish.

This is what the painting looked like at the museum:
