Easily persuaded
Goaded
Influenced
Lured
By the promise of excitement
Or a piece of the action, maybe a minute of satisfaction
Finger pinched by a door hinge
While searching for a clue as to what you are trying to disprove
May as well substitute orange
Or a little mars black for the blue you might be falling through and into
A carnival of neurotic clowns all looking for a
Hysterical
Slip
Or trip
Or plunge
Of a caramel covered tongue
You're walking, you sense the movement but you can't feel your legs
As they stride
Can't feel your feet as they strike the sidewalk
Can't feel the drop off the curbside
Curl up in the gutter, no longer desire to conspire with the all the other mad mod
Friends
Acquaintances
or worse
Villains running from the fire living life afraid
To just sit awhile and detach
From the hustle bustle preposterousness of everything that you think should be Yours to own, to set in a place of honor on a shelf in your home
That would make it clearly known that you saw it, you liked it, you bought it
And now you get to look at it all you like to look at it
For hours
For seconds
At a glance or
Entranced
They worked their charms and now you're trapped
In a room with another trinket to dust
That was once on a shelf in a store
But now sits on the shelf of useless things you like to adore
Hoping it will bring
Peace
Tranquility
Serenity
A smile
