Along Colorado 160 east of Pagosa Springs
A thousand million people wishing on a million billion stars
Hoping to hit the lottery or win a brand new car
Some may be yearning for a true love to have a change of heart
Others are pleading with the universe to save them from the dark
It's a loser's bet counting on luck to light the way
Waiting on a ship to come in, waiting forever and a day
Crossing fingers, flipping coins, chasing waterfall rainbows
Anything in hopes of good fortune when sitting down to play
Failures fill the coffers of those who own the wishing wells
Carrying good luck charms and amulets, casting magical spells
Unwavering faith they'll be blessed if they follow the right rituals
Put up a barnstar and a horseshoe, a skull carved from crystals
Fate, it needs to be said, favors those who leave little to chance
Trusting in preparation and not to happenstance
Knowing that there is no destiny that needs escaping
Blazing their own trail not stumbling down a path of circumstance
