The cat, looking for all the world like a statue
Of a gargoyle perched atop a Gothic cathedral
Stared intently at the world below him
Watching the birds
And the squirrels
Patiently waiting
For just one little
Field mouse
To make a move
"C'mon, c'mon,"
It seemed to mouth
"C'mon, c'mon"
The Juniper bush
Rustled
But the mice
Didn't move
They knew
