To be referred to as "perky"
As she interpreted it as a dismissive term
For her optimistic and high-energy approach
To every challenge life could throw at her
She resolutely stated
That she preferred to be known as "sassy"
As it clearly defined her as fun, yet a bookworm
And not a pig-tailed 'tween wearing a plastic broach
That people always expected to be demur
