Submitted for your perusal, nineteen more paintings I have found while garage selling, thrift shopping, or junk shop picking in and around Lakewood Colorado. Again, most do not have attribution of any kind.

Falling Out Of God's Favor
Does God exist? And if God does indeed exist, what does he think when he witnesses the actions of his creations?
Better still, if it is possible for this God to read the thoughts that pass through the minds of men - the dreams, fantasy's, mad visions, random half-crocked ideas, flights of fancy, emotion-driven lusts and or loathings...
Does this God laugh or cry?

Easter Island Moai Wearing Sunglasses & Headphones
The title pretty much says it all. Building an Easter Island Moai wearing sunglasses and headphones out of snow has been somewhat of a lifelong ambition of mine. Well, maybe a three-quarters of my life ambition.
Everything I needed to realize this dream fell into place today. Plenty of snow from a couple of back-to-back storms, an afternoon off, and nothing else to do.
It took a couple of hours, but I can now scratch this off my bucket list. As an added bonus, I knocked off my yearly attempt at a sculpture, too.

Following Your Bliss Off The Edge Of The World
There is a philosophy that posits following your bliss is a surefire means of finding happiness.
That, of course, is pure horsepucky. The streets are full of people who have been following their bliss for decades, and the only thing they found was a spot at the local homeless shelter - if they got lucky on the cold nights that is - otherwise they fight for space on a heating grate or under a bridge.
Because, for a large number of people, their bliss is a debilitating habit, or a soul-crushing addiction, or some other affliction that cripples their ability to fend for themselves in the real world, much less provide even a minuscule amount of bliss.
Sadly, "Follow What Provides You With A Means To Secure Food, Clothing, & Shelter, Then & Only Then Indulge Your Hedonistic Desires" makes for an awkwardly long and wordy bumper sticker.

These Are The Cold Old Days
February's days of dishwater gray drudge on by
Snow falling from dirty cottonball skies
Tires crunching on thin ice as they half-skid down the streets
A fishtailing Taurus dodges past a fishtailing Caprice
Driver's gripping wheels and hanging on to battered seats
B-b-b-baby it's stupid cold outside

The Dashing, Well-Dressed Young Man
The scene: Two women, dressed similarly in professional business attire, are standing next to a vending machine in a company breakroom. The door to the breakroom is open and looks out on a long hallway lined with offices. Walking out of one of the office doors is a handsome young man in a suit, adjusting his tie. On the office door he just exited can be seen a placard with the name "Jane Smith," followed by the title "CEO".
One of the women looks down the hall at the sharp dressed young man. The other woman is seen to be staring down the hallway along with her friend, and commenting; "Yes, he does know how to dress himself well - and quickly."
No?

UnWound: Sculpture In The Yards Of Homes In Lakewood Colorado
Last week I posted photos of the sculptures being featured at the Arvada Center's Outbound: Sculptures In The Field exhibition. With one wee exception I did not write a critique of any of the sculptures.
However, I did engage in an email volley with a friend who suggested that the Arvada Center was finally making good use of the field, as it was a waste for it to sit empty or be used only for "displays of restored old cars."
Yes, that is a verbatum quote, used with permission. I was taken aback, as I love classic car shows.
My retort to that statement was that I could find sculptures of similar quality in the front yards of my neighbors, and of course that was met with not only disbelief, but a challenge. Put up or shut up, for a case of beer.
Well then...for a case of Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout, I present various sculptures I have seen in the front yards of homes withing a two mile radius of my house.
I do not know who is responsible for the sculptures (except for the work of Greg Wasil - I used a pic of one of his yard sculptures for a post back in July of '12), so apologies for the lack of attribution
This is Greg Wasil's front yard, and the next three pictures are of his work, too

The Scene Slowly Unfolds
Mr. Frederick stares out of bleary eyes
Without a care in the world
While the half-dressed woman with the razor-scarred thighs
languishes on the sofa like a flag unfurled
The actor cast as Thompson is playing against type
Usually an action hero he is whispering all his lines
Tripping up his costar with honey-laced tripe
Even the Director missed the obvious signs
The script doctor knows the ADR will take weeks
The audience will be expecting a familiar baritone
When their favorite leading man speaks
Not a drunk weasel ranting hoarsely in a dull monotone

Can't Get Hotter Fast Enough
I often state that I am pro-climate change, especially if that climate change is an increase in global warming. Just as often, people around me mistake that statement as a joke.
It is not a joke, at least not on my part. The planet is a self-correcting mechanism and it's high time for a bit of correcting.
