Here it is, the day people all over the United States of American fire up bar-be-ques and fireworks to celebrate and commemorate the 248th anniversary of the day 56 landowning men of European descent (representing every single resident of the then 13 colonies, all of whom were legally regarded as subjects of the King of England, and thus parties to treachery punishable by death) decided to flip ol' King George the III the bird and cast off the political bands which connected them to the Kingdom of Great Britain, and to pursue the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and Nature's God entitled them (to paraphrase Thomas Jefferson and his introduction to the most important document ever written).
I never get tired of celebrating this day, and hopefully never will.
Not bad for a system of government that is relatively still in it's infancy.
